What Are the Raw Materials of Plastic Bottles?                        Plastic goes through a manufacturing process to end up as bottles for liquid substances such as milk, soda, motor oil and shampoo, and for dry products such as medications and nutritional supplements. In its raw state, plastic is made up of a range of organic polymers, including polyethylene and ethylene. In a soft state, plastic can be molded into the desired shape and then cast into a solid state. The different raw materials of plastic bottles include polyethylene terephthalate and high-density polyethylene. If you have a plastic bottle, check the base of it for the resin identification code to find out what it is made of. This code is designed to help you recycle plastic bottles in the correct way. Polyethylene Terephthalate A plastic bottle made of polyethylene terephthalate has the resin identification code 1. Also known as PET, PETE or polyester, it is often used for carbonated beverages, water and food prod

BPA-Free Plastics                           What is BPA and why is it dangerous? BPA, or bisphenol A, is a chemical used in some plastics, including water bottles, baby bottles, aluminum can liners, caps and lids, and paper receipts. BPA is one of the most notorious “endocrine disruptors,” meaning it disrupts the body’s hormonal systems. Research shows that BPA not only acts just like the hormone estrogen in the body, it also disrupts androgens like testosterone and even thyroid hormones. Furthermore, recent research shows that in addition to affecting the body’s endocrine system, these chemicals disrupt immune function as well. For instance, the immune systems of individuals with higher BPA exposure are less able to control chronic infections. How do you know if plastic is BPA free? You can easily determine what  plastics are BPA-Free   by looking at the number stamped on the product. There are different types of plastic containers that are labeled with a 1, 2, or 5 are considered BP
